I first met Hannah nearly a decade ago while working a show at Pull Tight Players, a small community theatre located in Franklin, TN. At the time, I wanted to pursue a career in acting and we quickly bonded over this shared interest. Hannah was one of the most talented actresses in the Nashville area and was a triple threat - actress, singer, and dancer. If there was a show opening, you could safely bet she was a part of it. We both ventured to New York to follow this dream - she lasted and I didn't. After graduating from the prestigious NYU with a degree in Musical Theatre, she ventured to West Virginia's The Greenbrier, a resort in White Sulphur Springs, where she was a full-time performer. Always looking for another stage, she found Greenbrier Valley Theatre and began auditioning and performing. Enter Waylon.

Hailing from New Martinsville, West Virginia, Waylon worked behind the scenes at Greenbrier Valley Theatre wearing numerous production hats throughout his time there. He was always around the theatre and encountered Hannah on a regular basis during rehearsals and shows. As is typically the case in the theatre world, everyone knew each other and after a while their mutual friends began to play matchmaker. "You and Waylon should date..." "I think you and Hannah should hangout..." They both played it cool and time continued to pass without any action, but one day all that changed and something just clicked. They began dating in 2013 and after a few years (and numerous shows) they made the move to Florida. Fast forward to this past Saturday.

Hannah had contacted Caitlin and I earlier this year about photographing her wedding. She had seen our work and wanted someone she felt comfortable with behind the camera. Her wedding day was still available and knowing just how much fun the ceremony and reception would be, we couldn't say no. Still living and performing full-time in Florida (if you're ever at Walt Disney World, Universal, or SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment look her up) we set the date of April 22nd for the engagement shoot with the hopes that any April showers would hold off long enough for us to get some great spring shots. A week out the forecast wasn't looking good, but if you've ever lived or visited Tennessee, you know this can change very quickly. They drove through the night on Friday after her final show of the day and made it to Tennessee after sunrise on Saturday. The rain which had been falling consistently for several days wasn't going anywhere. As this was the only time we could shoot, we had no choice but to use the rain and get creative. Running on very little sleep and copious amounts of Diet SunDrop (Hannah's favorite) we met at the Factory at Franklin and began shooting. Like most couples, they warned us that they weren't sure what to do in front of the camera and weren't the most photogenic. Lies. After a few minutes, we were all laughing and it was by far one of the most fun and comfortable shoots I've been a part of. Not afraid of getting a little wet, we moved outside to Downtown Franklin's Main Street and made a little Singing In the Rain magic. Because they were flexible and allowed us to be creative with the circumstances given, we were able to capture moody, yet playful images that are both timeless and unique. We are counting down the days until they say I do, and after this past Saturday, we couldn't be more excited!
